Temperley London Fall 2025: Military Might
Alice Temperley is marking 25 years in business, a milestone for any designer, but a particular accomplishment for a London one. The city is littered with businesses that reach the five- or ten-year mark and then, often for cash-flow reasons, are forced to shut.
Over the past years, Temperley’s business has had its ups and downs, but it’s now majority-owned by the Dubai-based Times Square Group, and last fall opened a store a few steps from Sloane Square. The store stocks all of the collections, including rtw, evening, heritage gowns, bridal and accessories.
The designer staged a static show and presentation of fall 2025 looks inside the new store with models wearing a mix of 25th anniversary designs, prints and patterns inspired by military regalia, and a host of signature intarsia knits.
Temperley created a sweet toile de jouy pattern to mark the anniversary with references to her past and present, including a tape measure, alpacas (she keeps them as pets at home in Somerset, England) and her beloved Land Rover, which she painted in zebra stripes during lockdown.
The toile appeared on a skirt suit with a bomber jacket, and a sculptural belted jacket, too. Military regalia was everywhere, as a pattern on white suit with flared trousers, and a print on silky separates.
More military might came through with an 18th century-inspired tailcoat aglow with two rows of shiny gold buttons.
Colorful intarsia knits also had military flair, with rope designs twisting down a burgundy and purple trouser suit, and regal insignia-style feathers floating across a pair of red and blue culottes with a matching top. It was a bold collection, reflecting Temperley’s march into the next 25 years.
