Several people were killed and many others injured after a passenger train derailed in south-western Germany on Sunday, security sources said.

Federal police in Stuttgart, the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg, said earlier that several people had been injured.

The train derailed near the town of Riedlingen in Baden-Württemberg. Rescue crews were en route to the scene in a hilly, wooded area.
