Legendary actress Diane Keaton dies at age 79



(KTLA) — Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton, whose career spanned more than five decades and included iconic roles in “The Godfather,” “Annie Hall” and “Father of the Bride,” has died in California at age 79, according to reports.

A family spokesperson confirmed her death to People and said loved ones have asked for privacy. Further details were not immediately available.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her portrayal of Kay Adams in “The Godfather” trilogy and later earned an Academy Award for Best Actress in Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall.” Known for her distinct voice, wit and signature menswear-inspired style, she became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading women.

Her long career included starring roles in “The First Wives Club,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “Baby Boom” and the “Book Club” films, among many others. She also directed and produced several projects and remained a fixture on social media, often sharing candid reflections with fans.

Born Diane Hall in Los Angeles in 1946, she adopted her mother’s maiden name, Keaton, for her stage career. She never married and is survived by her two children, Dexter and Duke.
