Denzilpatrick Fall 2025: A Knight’s Commute
British commuters have many different looks, but one thing for sure is that everybody must brace for the cold.
At Denzilpatrick’s London Fashion Week debut, a walk to work required balaclavas; padded trousers and trench coats with regal detailing.
The majestic spirit continued into heavy knitwear with tone-on-tone military braiding; hard, silvery shields worn like vests; and the image of a motorcyclist wearing a knight’s helmet printed onto a silky, two-tone top.
Designers Daniel Gayle and James Bosley took elements from the uniforms of speedway riders, a motorcycle sport involving four to six riders, in which Bosley’s father took part when he was younger.
“We realized that just around the corner from us in New Cross [southeast London] there was the last speedway track in London. It has now been turned into the Millwall F.C. soccer stadium,” said Gayle, who’s happy to be carrying on the family sporting tradition.
Motorcycle-inspired looks included belted fuel jackets made from recycled nylon; trousers made to look like they had been splattered with mud; and cropped jackets with quilting in the shape of shields.
“These are ideas about the way British people present themselves, as well as the peacocking and pageantry of uniforms,” said Gayle.
Bosley added: “This is modern heraldry, we had this vision of our boys going to the river and Westminister.”
The designers said the show was a labor of love. “It’s our own blood, sweat and tears. To be very transparent – it’s challenging. We have to work many other [design] jobs to keep the studio alive and moving,” said Gayle.
