Stephen A. Smith brushes off Carville attack: ‘You sound like one of those old curmudgeons’

Stephen A. Smith brushed off Democratic strategist James Carville’s recent criticism as the two continue their word battle regarding comments about the 2028 presidential election after Carville said the sports analyst doesn’t know his “a‑‑ from a hole in the ground” when it comes to politics.

“You sound like one of those old curmudgeons that want things to stay or be the way that they used to be and you’re resentful, harboring an abundance of animosity because you’re not being heard,” Smith stated on Friday’s airing of the “Stephen A. Smith Show.”

The commentator admitted that he does not vividly study politics but claimed he knew enough to “wreak havoc.”

“I don’t study Capitol Hill like I study sports. Do y’all want me to? Do you know what kind of havoc I’d wreak if I sat down for a few weeks and just buried my brain and my face and my mind into the nuances of politics and what transpires on Capitol Hill?” Smith said, adding Carville was “daring” him to weigh in.

He also proposed that Carville only commented on him because of his ability to resonate with voters.

“Is what I said really the problem? Since most of what I said are things that I also heard you say?” he asked. “Or is it the fact that some novice who doesn’t know his a– from a hole in the wall when it comes to politics is resonating in the political stratosphere more than you?”

Carville has been the subject of recent attacks from President Trump following the strategist’s statements guiding Democrats on how to overcome their November loss.

“The Democrats, run by broken down losers like James Carville, whose weak of mind and body, are going crazy, and just don’t know what to do,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
